Your new Philishave super-easy hair clipper adapts to the contours of the head and enables comfortable use. To enjoy using the hair clipper we advise you to read the following information. Check if the voltage indicated on the adapter corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance. This appliance is suitable for mains voltages from 220 to 240 volts. Only use the adapter supplied. The adapter contains a transformer. Do not cut off the adapter to replace it with another plug, as this will cause a hazardous situation. Do not use a damaged adapter. If the adapter is damaged, always have it replaced by one of the original type in order to avoid a hazard. Do not use the appliance when one of the attachments is damaged or broken as this may cause injury. Use, charge and store the appliance at a temperature between 15c and 35c (fig. 1). ENGLISH Keep the appliance and the adapter dry (fig. 2). Keep the appliance out of the reach of children. This appliance is only intended for clipping human hair. Do not use it for any other purpose. Do not charge in pouch or cassette. Charging Charge the appliance for 8 hours (NiCd battery) or 12 hours (NiMh battery) before you start using it for the first time. A fully charged appliance has a cordless clipping time of up to 35 minutes (NiCd battery) or 50 minutes (NiMh battery). Do not charge the appliance for more than 24 hours. 1 Make sure the appliance is switched off while charging. 2 Insert the appliance plug into the appliance (fig. 3). 3 Insert the adapter into the wall socket. The charging light will go on to indicate that the appliance is charging (fig. 4). Optimising the lifetime of the battery 7 After the appliance has been charged for the first time, do not recharge it between clipping sessions. Continue using it and recharge it only when the battery is (almost) empty. - Discharge the battery completely twice a year by letting the motor run until it stops. - Do not keep the appliance plugged into a wall socket all the time. - If the appliance has not been used for a long time, it must be recharged for 8 hours (NiCd battery) or 12 hours (NiMh battery). Corded clipping Do not run the appliance from the mains when the battery is fully charged. 8 ENGLISH To use the hair clipper connected to the mains: switch the hair clipper off, connect it to the mains and wait a few seconds before switching it on. Using the appliance Also see the quick-start CD-ROM. Clipping with comb attachment The hair length after cutting is indicated in millimetres on the result indicator (fig. 5). The hair length after cutting is only visible when one of the combs is attached. Use the small comb for a length of 3-21 mm and use the large comb for a length of 23-41 mm. 1 Slide the comb attachment into the guiding grooves of the appliance ('click') (fig. 6). Make sure that the arms of the comb attachment have been properly slid into the grooves on both sides. 2 Set the comb to the desired hair length by turning the length lock (fig. 7). Choose the appropriate hair cutting method on the quick-start CD-ROM. ENGLISH Tips We advise you to start clipping at the highest setting of the large comb and to reduce the hair length in small steps until you reach the desired hair length. If a lot of hair has accumulated in the comb, remove the comb attachment and blow and/or shake the hair from the comb. Removing the comb does not change the selected hair length setting. Write down the hair length settings used to create a certain hairstyle as a reminder for future clipping sessions. Clipping without comb attachment: You can use the clipper without comb attachment to contour the neckline and the area around the ears. You can also find instructions and tips on quick-start CD-ROM. Remove the comb attachment by pulling it off the appliance (fig. 9). Never pull at the flexible top of the comb attachment. Always pull at the bottom part. 9 - - The comb attachment keeps the cutting unit at a certain distance from your head. This means that, if you use the clipper without the comb attachment, your hair will be cut off very close to the skin. For precise contouring and defining: 1 Push the middle part of the cutting unit upwards with your thumb until it opens and then pull it off the appliance (fig. 10). Be careful that the cutting unit does not fall to the floor. 2 Place the lug of the precision trimmer into the slot and push the unit back onto the appliance ('click') (fig. 11). 10 ENGLISH Cleaning Clean the appliance every time you have used it. Do not use abrasives, scourers or liquids such as alcohol, petrol or acetone to clean the appliance. The appliance and the adapter may only be cleaned with the brush supplied. 1 Make sure the appliance is switched off and disconnected from the mains when you start cleaning it. 2 Remove the comb attachment by pulling it off the appliance (fig. 9). 3 Push the middle part of the cutting unit upwards with your thumb until it opens and then pull it off the appliance (fig. 10). Be careful that the cutting unit does not fall to the floor. 4 Clean the cutting unit with the brush supplied (fig. 12). 5 Also clean the inside of the appliance with the brush supplied (fig. 13). 6 Place the lug of the cutting unit into the slot and push the unit back onto the appliance ('click') (fig. 11). This appliance does not need any lubrication. Replacement A worn or damaged cutting unit should only be replaced with an original Philips cutting unit. Push the middle part of the cutting unit upwards with your thumb until it opens and then pull it off the appliance (fig. 10). Place the lug of the new cutting unit into the slot and push the unit back onto the appliance ('click') (fig. 11). Be careful that the cutting unit does not fall to the floor. ENGLISH 11 Environment Remove the battery when you discard the appliance. Do not throw the battery away with the normal household waste, but hand it in at an official collection point. You can also take the appliance to a Philips service centre, which will remove the battery for you and will dispose of it in an environmentally safe way. Only remove the battery if it is completely empty. 1 Disconnect the appliance from the mains and let the appliance run until the motor stops. 2 Push the middle part of the cutting unit upwards with your thumb until it opens and then pull it off the appliance (fig. 10). Be careful that the cutting unit does not fall to the floor. 3 Remove the upper housing part from the inner part of the appliance by means of a screwdriver (fig. 14). 4 Separate the lower housing part from the appliance (fig. 15). 5 Remove the result indicator from the appliance (fig. 16). 6 Remove the battery by prying it out of the appliance (fig. 17). 7 Cut the wires and dispose of the battery in an environmentally safe way. Avant de brancher l'appareil, vérifiez que la tension indiquée sur l'adaptateur correspond à la tension du secteur de votre logement. Tension d'utilisation: 220V à 240V. Charge Chargez l'appareil pendant 8 heures (accumulateurs NICd) ou 12 heures (accumulateurs NIMh) avant la première utilisation. Une charge complète offre une autonomie de 35 minutes environ (accumulateurs NICd) ou de 50 minutes (accumulateurs NIMh). Ne chargez pas l'appareil plus de 24 heures. 1 Assurez-vous que l'appareil est bien sur la position arrêt. 2 Insérez le connecteur dans l'appareil (fig. 3). 3 Insérez l'adaptateur dans la prise de courant. Le témoin de charge s'allumera pour indiquer que l'appareil est en charge (fig. 4). Durée des accumulateurs Après la première charge, utilisez l'appareil jusqu'à l'épuisement des accumulateurs. - Déchargez les accumulateurs complètement deux fois par an en laissant tourner le moteur jusqu'à l'arrêt. - Ne laissez pas l'adaptateur branché sur le secteur continuellement. - Si l'appareil n'a pas été utilisé pendant une longue période, rechargez le pendant 8 heures (accumulateurs NICd) ou 12 heures (accumulateurs NIMh). 14 FRANÇAIS Utilisation sur secteur N'utilisez pas l'appareil directement sur secteur si les accumulateurs sont complètement chargés. Pour utiliser l'appareil directement sur le secteur: arrêtez la tondeuse, branchez la fiche dans la prise de courant et attendez quelques secondes avant de mettre l'appareil en marche. Taille avec guide de coupe La longueur des cheveux restante après la coupe est indiquée en millimètres sur l'indicateur de résultat (fig. 5). La longueur des cheveux restante après la coupe est visible uniquement lorsqu'un des guides de coupe est monté. Choisissez le petit guide de coupe pour une hauteur de coupe de 3-21 mm et le guide de coupe plus large pour une hauteur de coupe de 23-41 mm. 1 Faites glisser le guide de coupe sur les glissières de l'appareil ("clic") (fig. 6). Assurez-vous que les deux guides sont bien positionnés dans les glissières. 2 Verrouillez le réglage de hauteur de coupe en faisant tourner le verrou (fig. 7). Choisissez la méthode la plus appropriée du CD-Rom avec guide de démarrage rapide. Suggestions Nous vous conseillons de commencer par la hauteur la plus élevée et de réduire au fur et à mesure jusqu'à la hauteur désirée. Si trop de cheveux se sont accumulés dans le guide de coupe, retirez le guide de coupe et soufflez dessus. Cela ne change en rien la hauteur de coupe choisie. Notez la hauteur de coupe choisie pour une taille ultérieure. Taille sans guide de coupe Vous pouvez également utiliser la tondeuse sans le guide de coupe pour dessiner le contour de la nuque et des oreilles. Voir les instructions et les suggestions dans le CD-Rom avec guide de démarrage rapide. Retirez le guide de coupe de l'appareil (fig. 9). Ne tirez jamais sur la partie supérieure flexible du guide de coupe. Tirez toujours sur la partie inférieure. ...
